To our Disappointment...

So grown up!

Well, after 3 weeks of Jacinda's saturation level being at 92, it took a sudden drop back into the mid 80s two weeks in a row. Her pediatrician and her pulmonologist highly recommend that we go forward with the swallow (modified barium swallow) study to see if she is silently aspirating. The nurse at the pulmonology office has been an incredible help to us, answering tons of questions and trying to help make the study go as smooth as possible. She explained that even someone with pneumonia can have a high saturation level, but because Jacinda's need for oxygen has been so persistent they think there is something that needs to be found. She explained how tiny bits of food and drink in the lungs can lead to infection and that would not be good. Because of my concerns with Jacinda's temper, her breath holding and passing out spells and wanting to get accurate results (yes, she does have one even though she is the happiest baby 99% of the time) the nurse said she would try to get some play therapists for Jacinda during the study to keep her distracted and to form a bond so she doesn't have so much stranger anxiety with the lab techs. So, the swallow study is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 27, 2:00pm at the Denver Children's Hospital.

In other news... Jacinda is 11 months old on Monday. I CANNOT believe how fast the last few months have gone. I never believed parents when they said that it would go fast, but it does. She is changing before our eyes and is the most amazing thing in the world to watch! I love her daily discoveries with her "language," her movements and problem solving. She is still not self feeding, but then again, as a princess why should she have to feed herself? :)

She can say, "ah duh" - All done. When she finishes her food I say and sign "All done" and she just started repeating me a couple days ago. "more" is another story... that comes out like a shriek! And when I take her hands to sign more please and all done, she thinks it is hilarious!
